Banquet!

Camp Wapo experienced a Banquet for dinner tonight.  The campers enjoyed a night where they could dress up and be served by their counselors.  Everyone was served salad followed by a meal of spaghetti and bread sticks.  The meal was topped off with a delicious chocolate ice cream bar!

Free Time - Tie Dye and 9 Square tournament

After beach bash, kids ran up for tie dye and the start of the 9 square tournament that was delayed from yesterdays rain.  We're on to banquet after free time this afternoon and then to masterpiece and the Christ Hike.  We'll hopefully have pictures of those events later this evening.

Beach Bash

The hottest day of the week is a perfect day for beach bash!

Field Games - Hoola Launchers

One of the best games at camps.  Giant sling shots, a lot of gator balls...need I say more:)

Thursday Chapel

Chapel's may be one of the best parts of camp after kids have woken up a little bit and are energized for the day.  Especially around Thursday, kids know the songs and their participation and excitement contagious, and hopefully you are able to see that in the "undignified" video above.  Thursday's theme is based on Zacchaeus and today's message at chapel came from the perspective of a 12 year old who's family would need to pay taxes to Zacchaeus.  So the monologue went through the hard feelings of being in a family who had their money stolen from Zacchaeus and then seeing the transformation in Zacchaeus after he encountered Jesus.

Breakfast!

French toast sticks, bacon, pineapple, granola, yogurt, juice, etc.   Pictures are of girls waiting with their cabin to run in and grab breakfast and kids going through the line this morning.

Servant Fair!

Servant fair is always a favorite of the week where counselors serve kids in crazy ways.   One of the most popular events at servant fair is probably our shaving cream hair dews, seen above.   Counselors also wash kids feet, paint their nails (and its always amazing how many guys want their nails painted), wash their hair, have a song sung to them, get their hair braided, face painting, hand massages, etc.  It's just a fun way to serve and hopefully provide the kids a memorable experience.  After servant fair the kids are off to canteen to grab a snack and then tonight we have two campfires - one for the 4-6th and another for the 7-9th.  Weather has been great since the rain earlier in the day.  We look forward to another great night celebrating the opportunity we have with these kids!

Rain...now full sun

This afternoon we were hit with some rain, nothing severe, just a lot of it.  It delayed the 9 Square tournament that was meant to start at the beginning of free time.   We gained a new pond on site that attracted the attention of a lot of kids, but for the most part it was over fast but left camp soaked.  Because of the amount of rain and large puddles the playing fields, field games for this afternoon was inside where the kids did an activity called "human scavenger hunt" and one called "giberish".  Since about 3:00 we have had full sun and the humidity seems to be coming on pretty strong, but it is these days, we're thankful for air conditioning at camp.  After field games, kids go into supper and then servant fair.  There should be some fun pictures to show from servant fair but there is also a station that allows kids to take a picture of themselves and send it to parents right away, so if you see an e-mail from "wapopictureemail", that would be it!

Bible Study and Cabin Activities

Today's Bible study is focused upon the blind man in John 9.  Cabin activities follow Bible study in which these cabins chose to play Revolutionary dodge ball and Gaga!  Fun times!
